KMM
Telecommunications, a privately held diversity firm, was
established in 1991 to address the rapidly changing outside
plant requirements of the Regional Bell Operating Companies.
Built on a foundation of Quality, cost-effective service,
the company has made its mark in the industry with innovative
delivery services, Systems and Quality assurance programs.
Today,
KMM has warehousing and cable cutting operations in Fredericksburg,
Va., Harrison, NJ., Niles, MI., Wallingford, CT.,
Stockton, CA., Corona, CA., Decatur, GA, Bessemer, AL. and
Groveland, FL. Out of these seven active locations,
KMM cuts and ships approximately 32,500 orders per year
to primarily five customers: Verizon, BellSouth, Pacific
Bell, SBC/SNET, and Ameritech. To the benefit of our customers,
KMM maintains a strong relationship with a number of manufacturing
partners (CSI/Belden, CommScope, BICC General, Lucent, OFS,
Norcom, Pirelli, Siecor, Sumitomo, and Superior Essex).
Through a combination of individualized service, a commitment
to continual improvement of our core business (warehousing
and cutting), and our strong industry relationships, KMM
has positioned itself to be a high quality and competitively
priced option for companies looking to outsource all or
part of their material logistics operations.
In
cable delivery, KMM has instituted various programs tailored
to each individual customer's needs. Four hours, same day
and next day deliveries are all currently part of KMM's
repertoire. In addition, reel tracking is also in our current
service offerings. Using a bar code tracking system, KMM
is able to provide customers with total visibility as to
reel disposition.
In
the area of information systems, KMM has much to offer.
The cornerstone of cable management is "C3", a
module designed specifically for our industry and further
customized by KMM. In addition to interfacing with our financial
systems, "C3" monitors all inventory levels, in
transits, WIP and scrap. Embedded with a reel optimization
program, "C3" saves substantial dollars by reducing
scrap levels. Built in links between our in-house software
(Open Systems) and EDI software provides both customers
and manufacturing partners with efficient transaction handling
as well as on-line access to a wide array of information.
As
for quality, KMM continually works with customers, via joint
quality councils, to identify ways to drive costs out of
business while continuing to provide top-notch products
and service. A full time quality administrator is tasked
with ensuring that training and education of our personnel
is always current and compliant. The efforts expended in
our quality program are evidenced by the low frequency of
quality complaints by our end customers. Over the past year,
KMM has shipped approximately 32,500 orders and received
8 quality complaints. Although we are proud of this accomplishment,
we will not be totally satisfied until there are no complaints.
KMM
will apply these same core strengths (delivery performance,
operating efficiencies, and quality partnering) and facilities
to support the material logistics functions associated with
various products and services to current and new customers.
